Boteler is really underappreciated, I think. I may have missed the official lake view. Going out on the spur trail, I noticed I could see the lake through the trees, so I figured I’d just stop and walk through the brush to get a better look at it on my way back. That’s where I took the photo at the bottom of my blog. I’m not all that familiar with hiking in Clay County. I hike in the Smokies and the Plott Balsams more than anywhere else.

I was doing a random search and found your blog! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw that you had written about ME in your blog about hiking to Boteler Peak! Yes, I am the guy who approached you with a map trying to find Chunky Gal Trai! I was so glad to find you and to finally hike to this peak! It was such a beautiful hike and the views were amazing. Wondering, did you notice there were two view – one mountain view and one lake view? I don’t think you mentioned the lake view, and I almost missed it myself. Any way, thanks again for your help. I have a cabin in Tusquittee, near Hayesville. If you ever want to hike in the area let me know! I’m sure you could show me some hikes I don’t know about.
